CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

Exposing and involving you into the everyday tasks and happenings of the Costa Rica culture is crucial to having a meaningful immersion experience. You will learn how to cook the typical “gallo pinto” (beans and rice) or “tres leches” (a famous dessert) with local cooks as well as dance the salsa and celebrate the latest festival in the central park.
LATIN DANCING & MUSIC CLASSES
Typical dances, salsa, meringue, cumbia, for both men and women, are taught by local experienced dancers using the best Latin music. Classes are to be held once a week or more if requested.
COSTA RICAN COOKING CLASSES
Come prepare typical exotic Costa Rican dishes. Lessons will be given by local cooks of Atenas, using tropical ingredients, fresh vegetables, and fruits. Dishes will be shared after classes in the gardens at the Eco-Green campus or in the family style dining room at the Town Center campus.
LOCAL FESTIVALS
Experience many traditional festivals in Atenas like the annual “Feria de la Clima” (Festival of the Climate) in April, Dia de Independecia (Independence Day) in September, the monthly celebration of the Full Moon, and the many celebrations of Saints as well as other frequently occurring special events.
