OTHER ACTIVITIES

Other optional cultural classes take place outside of the regular Spanish class schedule.

Volunteering programs in local “Barrios” (neighborhoods):

Students will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the available voluntary community fun programs, which will be organized and supervised by our Center. Our students are also encouraged to propose a program that they feel will help the local communities. Participation in these programs will reinforce the student’s experience. The students will be able to interact and practice the language and also leave a mark by getting involved in the cultural environment. One of our star projects in Atenas is to create a public bilingual library for small children (English/Spanish). You are welcome to join the team.

Latino and typical dancing classes:

Typical dances, salsa, meringue, cumbia, for men and women, taught by local experienced dancers with the best music. Classes to be held once a week or more if desired. BIG SUPPRISES will take place during this class!

Local Cuisine:

Cooking classes to prepare Costa Rican exotic dishes will be given by local ladies of Atenas, using tropical ingredients, fresh vegetables and fruits. Dishes will be shared after classes in the garden.

Excursions and more:

Short excursions will be taken weekly within the area: coffee plantations, bird watching, sight seeing, shopping, etc. Also, at the student’s request, longer trips can be arranged around the country.
