TESTIMONIALS

Fred BoumanAmazing, after visiting a few Spanish schools and trial lessons in San Jose I didn’t know what to do, at that time Spanish was for me abracadabra, but than, I found Spanish&fun.
I think that, no, I’m sure that for foreigners this school is one of the best schools to learn Spanish in Costa Rica.
The exercise books have a very good structure and are very understandable witch make learning Spanish without effort.
I’ve been taken lessons for 5 weeks and at this moment I can read articles in newspapers and most imported I can communicate with the Tico’s (Costaricens)
I’m very grateful to Odilie, Mariela an Maricela who made it possible for me to speak Spanish.

Mucho gracias Senorita’s !!!!!!

Wil je informatie over mijn ervaring bel me gerust.

Holy BrownI felt unprepared to go to a Spanish-speaking country despite 3 years of high school Spanish, but Odilie and Eduardo made me and the other students feel like their number one student every time any one of us tried to speak Spanish. For one, they listen carefully to you in both Spanish and English and never tire of reminding students of vocabulary words or verb tense. They are wonderfully warm and welcoming and their great sense of humor really helps you feel at ease in your classes and during leisure times.

Did you ever mispronounce a word in another language so that your sentence becomes embarrassingly dirty or funny but you don’t realize it? Of course, it’s just in the process of learning, but Odilie never embarrasses you, choosing instead to translate what you said, why it was funny, and how to say what you really meant in Spanish. I remember laughing so hard with the other students while we told stories about our day over wonderful dinners of carne asada cooked by both Odilie and Eduardo on an outside grill in a little covered kitchen just outside the main house. Odilie listened and helped with pronunciation and told stories about her life and family
and the history of Atenas and Costa Rica, making sure you understood her Spanish and having you pronounce important phrases or words.
Overall, I felt like I was welcomed as an insider and not treated as a tourist. I had fun learning Spanish in the classroom and then being able to use it during the day or night on fieldtrips and I really felt proud of myself for being able to communicate anything I wanted. At night, I enjoyed relaxing on the porch in rocking chairs (I even saw several Gila monsters on the lawn!) and I spent time relaxing in the pool and enjoying the beautiful green and lush grounds around the house.
I recommended Spanish & Fun to my friends and family and would love to go back with a big group of friends so we could all share the Costa Rica experience together.

JC. SemeillonAt the beginning of the last year, I heard a lot of good things about SPANISH and FUN.... The best way to learn Spanish. …
In November I followed Spanish courses for four weeks.....
To day I can read news papers, I can understand people and I can speak with my "TICOS" friends.
SPANISH and FUN staff take in charge all things for our well being outside of school...
Many thanks Mrs. CALVO and professors for your help
I hope to visit one more time COSTA RICA.

CanadianWe are five sisters Clare (14), Anna (12), Kate (11), Sophie (7) and Helene (5) who moved to Costa Rica with our parents in July 2007 from Canada knowing not a single word of Spanish save "gracias" and "buenas dias". You can imagine the panic we felt when we started at the local school not only unable to converse with the friends we were making there but, even worse, unable to even understand our lessons! Although we knew that, given time, we would learn Spanish eventually, we were desperate to learn it quickly so that we could fit into our new life as soon as possible.

It was after 3 weeks of floundering and frustration at school that our parents thankfully came across "Spanish and Fun" and, before we knew it, we were enrolled in a course of Spanish lessons that has literally turned our inability to speak Spanish right on its head. We found that the method of teaching Spanish at "Spanish and Fun" gave us not only a structured, in-depth curriculum to tackle the grammar and the acquisition of Spanish words but, very importantly, it was also combined with giving us a cultural understanding of the Spanish language through the learning of the country and the people of Costa Rica. This was important because by becoming familiar with the Spanish culture and its people, we found our interest thoroughly piqued and thus our desire to learn the language fuelled even further.

One aspect of the teaching method at "Spanish and Fun" that we really loved was the emphasis placed on using what we had learnt in class being put to practical use in various projects whether it was doing some cooking and baking with our teachers, taking an afternoon to learn some Spanish dancing or going on a field trip into San Jose to visit some of the museums and theatres. We also very much appreciated the occasional personalization of our lessons such as the time when Odie covered some of the Spanish terms and words that we would be coming across in math and science class back in school; a perfect mix of thoughtfulness and practicality!

Even though our summer holidays are almost at an end and school is looming in less than a week, we are going to continue with our time at "Spanish and Fun" because it's well worth the time and effort, it brings fantastic results and because it really is a great deal of FUN! A huge thank you to Odie, Mariella and Marciella!!

I spent two weeks at Spanish and Fun and it was absolutely wonderful!

The lessons were interesting and fun and very effective! My Spanish improved an immense amount in just two weeks! The director of the school is such a warm and friendly person, I felt so at home! She really makes sure the students understand what they are leaning and caters the program to all your needs. The atmosphere is focused on learning the language but the surroundings are fun and relaxing! I would 100% recommend this experience to anyone and everyone! I wish I could have stayed for longer! I can´t say enough good things about it!

Finding a qualified language instructor in Costa Rica is about as difficult as finding a professional real estate agent. Everyone is doing it, but few know what they’re doing. At Spanish and Fun, they not only know what they’re doing, but they do it with verve and style. In my nearly seven years in Costa Rica, it’s the best language instruction I’ve come across.

I had an amazing experience with Spanish and Fun. It was perfect for learning intensive Spanish in a short period of time. The program was very well organized and the instructors were fantastic! My host family was incredible, so welcoming, kind and always with amazing typical foods! I would highly recommend this program to people of all ages and all language levels! It was the perfect start to a six month tour of Central and South America.

Muchas gracias y Pura Vida!
