VOLUNTEER WORK.

The volunteer program at Spanish and Fun is an exceptional opportunity for you to live in Costa Rica, contribute your special skills in the community, and build bridges between cultures. Volunteering abroad opens up your professional and personal horizons, gives you the experience of immersion in another culture and provides the opportunity to share your talents with others while you improve your Spanish language skills.

Who can participate?

The program is open to anyone who wishes to live new experiences and meet people from different cultures: teenagers, students, retirees, professionals, among others. Any age from 16 up.

How long does it last?

You can stay as long as you wish. However, if you want to stay longer than three months we recommend you have a student visa.

What is included?

The volunteer program includes the basic package of our regular programs (fifteen hours of Spanish instruction each week), plus:

• Orientation and information about volunteer opportunities in the community.
• Contacts and interviews with the appropriate people at volunteer sites.
• Participation in social and cultural activities organized by Spanish and Fun.

Volunteer Opportunities

Participants may choose to volunteer in any of the following areas:

• Education (students with special needs, teaching English).
• Tourism (guides, travel agencies).
• Work with seniors (primary care), or with elders who need someone to talk with, perhaps preparing and caring through engaging activities.
• Monument restoration.
• Environment.
